⏳ Creating Conditional Paths on Survey

Learn how to create conditional paths in your survey to establish a logical flow based on responses, applicable for supported question types and sections.

Updated this week

⚙️ Creating Conditional Paths for Sections

✨ Tip

This feature is only available if you have multiple sections in your survey.

  1. Select your first section to start creating a conditional path.

  2. Click on the dropdown menu to select the next section.

  3. You will see all available sections and an additional action (Submit Survey).

  4. Repeat these steps for subsequent sections.

  5. For the final section, the conditional path should be set to Submit Survey.

⚠️ Warning

Don't forget to set Submit Survey as the condition for your final section. If you don't properly close the survey with this action, your audience will not be able to submit their responses.

❓ Creating Conditional Paths for Questions

Lucidya supports conditional paths for the following question types:

  • Yes/No: Two conditions - one for "Yes" and another for "No".

  • Multiple Choice: Conditions based on the number of options.

  • Dropdown: Conditions based on the number of options.

  • Net Promoter Score (NPS®):

    • Detractors (0-6)

    • Passives (7-8)

    • Promoters (9-10)

  • Customer Satisfaction Score (CSAT®):

    • Not Satisfied (1-2)

    • Neutral (3)

    • Satisfied (4-5)

  • Scale (Rate): Set conditions by selecting scales from checkboxes based on the number of scale options.

📊 Net Promoter Score (NPS®) Conditional Path Example

Below is a step-by-step guide for enabling the "Proceed Based On Answer" feature for Net Promoter Score (NPS®) questions:

  1. Add a Net Promoter Score (NPS®) question to your survey.

  2. Mark the question as "Required" to ensure respondents answer it.

  3. Toggle the "Proceed based on answer" switch to create conditional paths.

  4. Set up specific conditions for each score range:

    1. Detractors (0-6): Select the appropriate next section for this group.

    2. Passives (7-8): Choose a different path for this group.

    3. Promoters (9-10): Assign the final conditional path for this group.

  5. Finally, click "Apply" to save your changes.

💯 Best Practices for Conditional Paths

  1. When enabling "Proceed based on answer" for a question to create a logical path, we recommend setting this question as Required. This ensures users answer this critical question before submitting the survey.

  2. You can only enable "Proceed based on answer" for one supported question per section.

  3. Start your survey with sequential sections from first section (start page) → last section (final page).

  4. By default, Lucidya will create a conditional path for your list of sections in this order:

    1. First Section

    2. Continue to Second Section, Continue to Third Section, Fourth, …

    3. Submit Survey Action for Final Section.

⁉️ FAQs

⏳ Can I create conditional paths between multiple surveys?

No, conditional paths can only be created within a single survey. Each survey operates as an independent entity.

✅ What happens if I don't set up a conditional path for all possible answers?

Any answer without a specified conditional path will follow the default path of the section, which typically means proceeding to the next sequential section.

📣 Can I edit conditional paths after publishing my survey?

It's not recommended to edit conditional paths after publishing as it may affect the data consistency. If you must make changes, consider creating a new survey version instead.

⛔️ Is there a limit to how many conditional paths I can create?

While there's no strict limit, we recommend keeping your survey structure manageable. Complex conditional logic can make analysis more challenging.

👀 Can I preview how my conditional paths will work?

Yes, you can use the preview feature to test your survey and see how different responses trigger your conditional paths before publishing.

🌐 Do conditional paths work on all devices?

Yes, conditional paths function consistently across all devices including desktops, tablets, and mobile phones.
