🌐 Creating an Embedded Survey

Learn how to create an embedded survey so you can place it directly on your website, allowing your customers to interact with the survey without leaving your site.

🖥️ How to Create an Embedded Survey

With the new Lucidya UX, the process of creating a new embedded survey is simple by following these steps:

Step 1: ➕ Accessing the Survey Page and Creating a New Embedded Survey


  1. Open the Lucidya sidebar.

  2. Click the Survey product to view the Survey List Page: https://cxm.lucidya.com/survey/list

  3. Click the ➕ New Survey button to start creating your survey.

  4. Select the Embed On Website option. For the Link/ QR Code method, see this guide: Creating a New Survey

  5. Enter a name in Survey Name for internal use only—this won’t appear to your audience.

  6. You’re now ready to add your survey!

Step 2: 🎨 Understanding Embedded Survey Builder Page


After creating the survey name, you'll be redirected to the survey builder page which provides you with a simple user experience and features to start building your survey. Now we'll cover the most important sections in this builder.

  • Content (Left Section): Here you can add various question types to your survey (such as Yes/No, Multi-Choose, Dropdown, NPS, Scale, and many more).   • Builder (Center Section): Manage your survey by adding content for each question, including Question Title, Description, and answer choices. This area also lets you create conditional paths within your survey.

  • Display & Question Settings (Right Section):

    • Display Settings Tab: Adjust display options such as embed settings, pop-up style, font, backdrop, enabling or disabling the progress bar, hiding or showing the section header, opening preferences, and frequency settings. Check it here: Step 6: 🎉 Customizing Your Embedded Survey

Within the survey builder page, you can start adding questions by clicking the ➕ on the Content tab at the top left of the survey builder, or the "➕" icon within the survey builder.

✨ Tip

All questions must have a title (required) and description (optional). Additionally, Dropdown List and Multiple-Choice Questions must have options (required).

Lucidya Survey supports the following question types:

  • Contact Information Questions (Name, Email, Phone Number, and Social Card): Pre-configured fields for collecting customer contact details.

  • Yes/No Questions: Simple binary response options.

  • Multiple-Choice Questions (Requires Options): Allows participants to select from several provided choices.

  • Dropdown List (Requires Options): Offers a compact menu of options where participants select one answer.

    • Number Questions: Fields designed specifically for numerical input.

  • Free Text Response Questions: Open-ended fields for detailed, unstructured answers.

  • Net Promoter Score (NPS®): Standardized metric to gauge customer loyalty and satisfaction.

  • Customer Satisfaction Score (CSAT®): This represents the average satisfaction rating across all CSAT questions. We calculate this score (%) by dividing the sum of positive ratings by the total number of responses, then multiplying by 100.

  • Rating Scale Questions: Allows evaluation on a defined numerical or descriptive scale.

Step 4: ⚙️ Customizing Questions on Survey


With question settings (right section in your survey builder), you can customize selected questions with some configurations like:

  • Make the question required to answer: This setting is available for all question types.

  • Select Country Code for Phone Number questions.

  • Add colored themes for NPS and CSAT questions.

  • For Multiple Choice questions:

    • Allow multiple selections.

    • Randomize options.

    • Add an Other option.

  • For Dropdown List questions:

    • Randomize options.

    • Sort in alphabetical order.

  • For Number questions:

    • Set minimum value (Min Length).

    • Set maximum value (Max Length).

  • For Free Answer (Text) questions:

    • Set maximum characters (Max Length).

  • For Scale (Rate) questions:

    • Set minimum and maximum rate values.

    • Add Low Value label (Optional).

    • Add High Value label (Optional).

Step 5: 🧱 Grouping Questions by Sections


Looking for a better user experience for your survey? You can use the sections feature to group your questions by sections. To do this:

  1. Click the New Section option at the bottom left (from the Content “Left Section” in your builder).

  2. A new section will be added at the bottom of your survey builder.

  3. You can perform the following actions for each section in your survey:

    1. Duplicate Section: Creates a copy of all questions in the selected section.

    2. Change Direction (RTL or LTR): Customizes the text direction for multiple languages (🇸🇦 Arabic - 🇺🇸 English).

    3. Delete Section: Removes all questions in your section.

Step 6: 🎉 Customizing Your Embedded Survey


Lucidya offers powerful features to customize your embedded survey under the Display Settings tab (right section in your builder), including the following:

  • ⚙️ Embed Options: Allows you to customize the embed type (Popup or Button), size (Small, Medium, or Large), and position settings (6 to 9 positions).

  • ◀️ Button Style: This section appears if you’ve enabled the button embed type from the Embed Options section, and allows you to customize the style of the button displayed in the corner of your website. You can customize the button title, pick the font color, select the font type, add a background color, and set the corner radius as rounded or square.

  • 🖥️ Pop-Up Style: This allows you to customize your popup page, including changing the alignment (Left-to-Right “LRT” or Right-to-Left “RTL”), picking the primary color, and setting the corner radius as rounded or square.

  • 🔤 Font Style: Apply a font style to your embedded survey (from the most commonly supported fonts for both 🇸🇦 Arabic and 🇺🇸 English), and select the content color.

  • 🎨 Backdrop: Apply a backdrop style to your embedded survey by picking a color and setting the opacity (%) for this background color.

  • 🚧 Progress Bar: Enable or disable the progress bar to show your audience their section progress as they complete your survey.

  • 👀 Hide Sections Header: Choose whether to display section titles (headers) on your embedded survey for your audience.

  • 🕓 Opening Settings: Customize the animation effect when your survey appears on your website. Options include fade in up, fade in down, slide in left, slide in right, or none.

  • 🔁 Frequency Settings: Control how often your survey appears by setting the Display frequency (either "Display Every Session" for returning visitors or "Display Once" for first-time visitors only) and defining when to stop displaying (After Survey Submission and/or After Closing Popup).

Step 7: 📣 Publishing your Embedded Survey


✨ Tip

Publishing your embedded survey is easy. You can ask your developer to add the code snippet. In this section, we'll walk you through everything required to make your embedded survey available on your website.

After completing your survey with all sections, questions, customizations, and branding, you can publish it by clicking the Publish button in the top-right corner.

To embed your survey in your website:

  1. Click on Publish button.

  2. Select where to display the survey.

    1. All website pages: Display the survey on every page of your website.

    2. Specific pages: Display the survey only on specific pages. You need to add your subpage (slug).

  3. Lucidya will ask you to verify your domain by the following:

    1. Copy Snippet Code just before the closing </body> tag: Copy and paste the embed code below just before the closing </body> tag of your website template file.

    2. Verify your domain: After pasting the snippet code on your website, enter your domain and click on the Verify button to verify updates.

  4. Check the confirmation message from Lucidya after clicking on the Verify button.

  5. Now your embedded survey is live on your website! 💯
