How to Set Up "Proceed Based on Answer" in Surveys

The "Proceed Based on Answer" feature is an advanced survey option that allows you to customize the user experience based on their responses. This feature enables survey creators to direct participants to specific sections or end the survey based on their answers, ensuring participants only view questions relevant to them.


Steps to Set Up "Proceed Based on Answer"

  1. Add a question from the types that support this feature. These include:

    • Multiple-Choice Questions

    • Yes/No Questions

    • Dropdown List

    • Net Promoter Score (NPS)

    • Rating Scale Questions

  2. Enable "Proceed Based on Answer":

    • Go to the left sidebar of the question settings, and look for the "Progress Based on Answer" option. Enable this option.


For NPS and Rating Scale Questions:

  • Once the feature is enabled, a popup window will appear prompting you to set conditions.

  • Set the Conditions:

    • Choose the value (answer) the participant might select.

    • Specify whether this answer should direct the participant to:

      • A specific section within the survey.

      • End the survey and submit their responses.

  • Add Multiple Conditions:

    • If the question has multiple potential answers, you can create multiple conditions to further customize the participant's experience.

    • For unanswered conditions, participants are directed to a default section, which can be set using the "Remaining Values" option.

  • After setting the conditions, click "Apply" to save your settings.

  • To remove a condition, click the "X" icon next to the condition you wish to delete.


For Multiple-Choice, Yes/No, and Dropdown Questions:

  • Next to each answer, you will find an option to:

    • Direct participants to a specific section.

    • End the survey and submit their responses after the question is answered.
